With the State going to observe Tika (vaccine) Utsav on Sunday, around 2.5 lakh doses of Covishield arrived in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
The Covishield vaccine is administered to people across the State, except Bhubaneswar, where Covaxin is given.
“We are expecting to receive 2.5 lakh doses of Covishield which will be sent to all districts. Vans from all districts have reached Bhubaneswar to take their share of the vaccine doses,” Health and Family Welfare Director Bijay Panigrahi had said earlier in the day.
“Tika Utsav will be observed tomorrow. Vaccine doses will be given at all centres throughout the State tomorrow,” he added.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called upon all States to observe ‘Vaccine Festival’ or ‘Tika Utsav’ between April 11 and 14 to inoculate the maximum number of eligible beneficiaries against Covid-19.
