The State Government on Wednesday decided to increase seats by 20 per cent in all the +2 and +3 Classes of the Government colleges established in the limits of the Municipalities and Municipal Corporations.
The admission in the additional seats would also effected from the current academic year. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved a proposal of the Higher Education Department to this effect, official sources said.
However, as per decision, there would be only additional 10 percent hike of seats in such colleges having more than 256 seats at the entry level. No additional increase would be effected in the self-financing courses in the Government colleges, it said.
