Due to the negligence of the school headmasters, as many as 16 students of several schools on Sunday failed to sit in the National Rural Talent Scholarship (NRTS) examination, which was held at Baladevjew High School in Kendrapada township.
The ill-fated students alleged that when they collected their admit cards from their headmasters on Saturday, they were told that the examination will commence at 10 am on Sunday and hence, they should be present at the examination hall before an hour. To their dismay, when they reached at the examination centre at the Baladevjew high school at 9 am on Sunday, they were told that the first sitting had begun at 7.30 am.
As a result, they were barred to enter into the examination hall to appear the examination.
The students alleged, “We have prepared well to appear the NRTS test but due to wrong information of the school headmasters, all our preparations went futile as we failed to appear in the examination.”
The guardians also fumed over the development and sought action against the school authorities who deprived their wards of appearing the examination.
Pramila Acharya, the center superintendent-cum-headmistress of the Baladevjew High School, stated that generally examination time and date do not come in the admit card. But, a notice related to all NRTS examination schedule, including date and timing of the examination, was affixed in the notice board of DI of Schools on Saturday. Hence, it is the duty of the guardians to gather information about the examination time.
The guardians demanded before the Mass education department to provide another opportunity to their wards to appear the examination.
