As many as 15 more Covid-19 deaths were reported in eight districts of the State on Wednesday. With this, the total death toll mounted to 1,469, the Health and Family Welfare Department said.
Four deaths were reported from Baleswar district, three from Cuttack, two each in Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada and one each in Angul, Khordha, Sambalpur and Mayurbhanj. Meanwhile, the positive cases mounted to 3,05,000 in the State on the day with 1,220 fresh cases recorded in all 30 districts and the State pool, the Information and Public Relations Department said.Of the new cases, 703 were detected from quarantine and 512 were local contacts.
Khordha district recorded the highest 134 cases followed by Sundargarh 119, Cuttack 96, Nuapada 66, Bargarh and Puri 60 each, Jagatsinghpur and Kalahandi 59 each, Angul 58, Kendrapada and Keonjhar 48 each, Mayurbhanj 46, Sambalpur 40, Balangir 33, Jharsuguda 32, Bhadrak 28, Ganjam 27, Dhenkanal and Jajpur 26 each, Baleswar4 and Koraput 21 each, Nayagarh 20, Malkangiri 19, Nabarangpur 14, Subarnapur 13, Kandhamal eight, Boudh, Gajapati and Rayagada five each and Deogarh three.
As many as 49,160 samples were tested on the day, taking the total tests to 50,27,959 in the State.However, another 1,340 patients recovered on the day, taking the total recoveries to 2,92,477.
