A 14-feet-long king cobra was rescued from a residence at Talagarh village in the district on Friday.

Locals were panicked after they spotted the huge poisonous snake at residence of Rabi Dehury in morning. Being informed by villagers, snake catchers Aditya Behera and Michel Raju reached the spot and rescued the cobra in the presence of forest officials. Later, the reptile was released into the wild.

“It was a critical job to rescue the huge king cobra. We found the snake in a shelf of the house. We made plan how to rescue the snake from the shelf as its size was too long. The cobra was rescued in 15 minutes of operation,” said Aditya Behera.

“The snake was loudly hissing while we attempted to catch it. We carefully caught it by its head,” he added.
