As many as 12 students were allegedly beaten up by a teacher at the Shreeksetra Plus Two Junior Science College at Salepur in Cuttack district.
The matter came to light after a student called his parents and complained about it.
The students alleged that the teacher caned them when a few of them complained about the bad quality of food being served at the college.
“The teacher often gets angry over petty issues and used to misbehave with us. He has brought a cane from his house yesterday and beat us. We later intimated our parents about the incident,” alleged a student.
The students, who sustained injuries, were admitted to the SCB Medical College Hospital here. Parents of the students have lodged a complaint with the Salepur police in the connection.
Based on the complaint, the police initiated a probe into the matter.
