The local police team led by Paralakhemundi SDPO Brahmananda Gagarin Mohanty brought 12 persons on remand from Malkanagiri in connection with a series of ATM loot incidents in last two years. They include mastermind of the loots Haridash Biswas and 11 other accomplices. The Malkanagiri district police had arrested these culprits two months back and had seized several ATM cards, laptops and various electronic devices. The modus operandi was that the gang members used to inform Haridash the last digit of a SBI ATM card of customers. While one of the three magnetic lines of an ATM card contains all the information of customers, Harihar managed to get complete information by using a magnetic decoder. Haridash, who resides in Malkanagiri, is an MBA graduate. His sudden financial growth within a few years had brought him into the police scanner.
