Even as the Ophthalmology Department of the Capital Hospital, which has been conducting about 1,700 cataract surgeries annually under the NPCB, a new achievement has created a record for doing a cataract surgery of a old man of 101 years successfully.
Ophthalmologist Dr Ashwani Meherda and his team did the operation on Jayakrushna Mishra of Jugal village under Satyabadi block in Puri district
Dr Meherda said the operation was just done in five minutes. He also said Mishra’s right eye underwent the surgery; and after 15 days. the left eye would be operated upon. After the successful surgery, people have congratulated Dr Meherda and his team and said it’s a milestone achievement for the hospital.
