More than 10 persons, including some policemen, were injured when a clash erupted between student protesters and the cops near the office of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha here on Friday morning.
Activists of the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) protesting against the wrong valuation of answer sheets by the BSE authorities in the annual High School Certificate (HSC) examinations, had gheraoed the BSE office.
Apprehending trouble, police forces had been deployed at the entrance gate of the office since last night.
When the DSO activists tried to barge into the BSE office through the gate, they were resisted by the police. As a result, a scuffle ensued which later turned violent as the DSO activists allegedly pelted stones at the police. While some policemen were injured, some people passing by the local Bajrakabati Road were also injured in stone pelting.
As the situation went out of control, the police resorted to lathi-charge in which some students were also injured.
