One contract labourer was killed and another five became critical following a gas leak from blast furnace of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) here on Wednesday evening. All the labourers were from ESSAR company. The injured persons were admitted at the Ispat General Hospital (IGH).
Meanwhile, local MP and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram visited the victims at the hospital and asked the hospital authorities for best available treatments for the poor labourers. Following the incident, several trade union leaders congregated near the RSP.
