About 1 lakh farmers of the State under the banner the Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) will march to Bhubaneswar and hold a rally on December 14 on the issues of price, prestige and pension.
The farmers’ body will demand legitimate dues of the farming community like hike in MSP of agricultural produces and social security cover, including pension. It will also give a call for protection of the self-respect of the farmers, who are a neglected lot in society these days.
The main demands of the NKS are `5,000 as MSP of paddy and direct purchase paddy from farmers without involving brokers; `5,000 per month as pension to every farmer after 20 years of farming and provision of `21,600 crore in the State Budget for social security allowance to about 36 lakh farmers.
