The Special Task Force of the Crime Branch on Friday intercepted a Hyva truck near the Tamando Crossing on NH-16 and seized ganja worth crores of rupees from it.
The STF arrested a person in connection with the seizure of the contraband. He was identified as Rajesh Singh (28) of Arra district in Bihar.
Acting on inputs, an STF team intercepted the Hyva and during search found 1,010 kg of ganja concealed in a secret chamber of vehicle.
The accused could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of such huge quantity of contraband, for which he was arrested and forwarded to a court in the city.
The vehicle was seized. The agency said the ganja was being trafficked to Jharkhand and Bihar.
A case was registered under the NDPS Act and further investigations are on.
In the drive against illegal contraband trade from 2020, the STF has seized 103 quintals of ganja so far.
