'Relax Ex-Servicemen’s age for OCS Exams'

PNS

The Indian Ex-Services League, Odisha (IESLO) has urged that age relaxation be allowed to the candidates under Ex-Servicemen category for applying for Odisha Civil Services Exams as advertised by the Orissa Public Service Commission (OPSC) 2021.

The IESLO has drawn the attention of the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary, GA & PG Department, and the Secretary, Odisha Public Service Commission, in this regard.

Notably, the OPSC, Cuttack has invited application from the eligible candidates for various posts under Odisha Civil Service Examination-2021. The last date for filling up online application form is 09.02.2022. However, in the present module of online application, when an ex-serviceman selects the option that he had already joined a Government post under Ex-serviceman category, the module with a warning disallows him to proceed further. It says, "You have already joined Govt, job availing the benefits of Ex-Serviceman. So you can not exercise the option."

The IESLO said it is in utter violation of the Government notifications and guidelines and willfully and intentionally debarring the number of eligible Ex-Servicemen to apply in their respective categories by availing the age relaxation for higher posts and services under the State Government.

"Although the matter has been brought before the notice of the Principal Secretary, GA & PG Department and the Secretary, OPSC, Cuttack by some of the aspirants through e-mail, no action has been taken till date to rectify the online application module to allow the eligible Ex-servicemen to apply," said the IESLO.

It also urged to extend the last date for applying for Ex- serviceman to the extent of such duration which would be elapsed by the time the necessary rectification be implemented in the Online application form.
