The Bhubaneswar Collective held a demonstration here on Sunday demanding justice for Hyderabad veterinary doctor Priyanka Reddy’s family and Odisha’s Smitarani Biswal’s family. Criticising the incidents, the members of the organisation holding placards and banners demanded both the Central and different State Governments to take steps for women security in the country.
Bhubaneswar Collective convenor Suresh Panigrahi urged people of the country to come together to fight against such incidents. He said no politics should be played over sensitive issues like women security and demanded that the elected representatives perform their Constitutional duties rightly.
Among others, social activists Devi Prasad Ray, Sudarshan Das, Sujata Maharana, Pradipta Nayak, Shanti Murmu, Pravat Panigrahi, Ramchandra Tripathy, Jaydev Nayak, Jay Prakash Bhanjadeo, Sushant Mahakud and Shiv Soren were present.
Similarly, the All India Mahila Sanskrutik Sangathan (AIMSS), Bhubaneswar held a demonstration here under the leadership of its State president Binapani Das demanding justice for Dr Reddy’s family. Among others, Sangathan State VP Chhabi Mohanty, Subhashree Das, Bijaylaxmi Patra and Geeta Behera were present.
