The Odisha Nagarika Mahamancha held a meeting here before expediting its ‘Voters’ Sankalp Yatra’ in other districts, excepting Ganjam, Khordha and Gajapati districts where the awareness programme has already been held.
It was decided that activists of the Mahamancha and other social organisation will go to people and urge them to vote for good character candidates who have inclination to fight against corruption, casteism and communalism.
Members stressed that people should ask questions to vote seekers as to what they have done in education and health sector and whether they are working towards total prohibition.
They lamented that most of the candidates are self-oriented and they don’t have any concern for protection of natural resources and respect for democracy.
In coming days, the Mahamanch would work for protection of the rights of farmers, daily wagers, women and youths.
