‘Transact in small denomination notes’

PNS

The town-based State Bank of India (SBI) has issued a request letter to all banks, post offices, Government and private offices, financial institutions and common people to pay and receive notes of small denominations of Rs 1 to Rs 10.

It has also made it clear that all the above currencies are deemed legal by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the rumour of ban on those in Puri is totally baseless. In a release by the SBI main branch Senior Manager it was  clarified that those small denomination currencies are meant to avert the distress in loose change in the market both people and shoppers suffering.
