‘Stop privatisation of electricity service’

PNS

The Covid-19 lockdown has broken the financial backbone of the people. Many have lost their jobs and become unemployed. The Government is appealing to the house owner to waive the rent of tenants. In this scenario, the Cesu’s “anti-people” policy has become an extra burden on the common people, said the Socialist Utility Centre of India (Communist.) on Monday.

While earlier the electricity bills for the months of April and May used to be between Rs 500 to Rs 700 now it is between Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000. In this situation, two months electricity bills should be waived off and privatisation  of  power distribution companies, said the SUCI , which held a demonstration  before Cesu office at Ranihat in Cuttack and submitted a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

SUCI Cuttack district secretary Biswabasu Das and office secretary Khageswar Sethi were, among others, present.
