‘Settle land in names of landless soon’

PNS

Former Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadai has requested the State Government to provide patta to all landless people for the land on which they have been staying for years by amending the Odisha Land Reforms Act soon.

“While the State Government has already declared many schemes for benefit of the unprivileged people, it is not understood why the landless people, agriculture laboueres and sharecroppers have been ignored. Landless people have not been given title of over their land which they are in possession for last hundreds of years,” lamented Ghadai.

He said poor people belonging to all categories are deprived of availing benefits of the Biju Pucca Ghara and Pradhanmantri Awas and ST and SC students are not getting caste certificates for admission in school and colleges and for employment due to lack of land.

“This is high time the State Government should provide land, including homestead land, to all landless families of our State irrespective of caste and creed by amending the Land Reforms Act 1960 and State Consolidation Act 1962 in line with the Karnatak Government,” demanded Ghadai.

Ghadai said he has already brought the matter to the attention of Chief Minister.
