‘Reopen coaching, training centres’

PNS

The Odisha Coaching and Training Academic Association (OCTAA) has urged the State Government to allow opening of coaching and training centres in the interest of both students and owners, teachers and staffs of the institutions.

“Owners have suffered a lot by paying rent and salaries to teachers and other staffs during the Covid lockdown period. Students have also suffered a lot without getting coaching. Many teachers have also stopped earning. Thus, the Government allow opening of these centres with conditions,” demanded association president and President awardee teacher Prasanna Kumar Choudhury, secretary and President awardee Prabhat Tripathy and advisor Bishwaranjan Das.

The association suggested that a class can run with 15 students and hostels can be opened with 30 per cent students of seat capacity. There would be no problem in maintaining social distancing, they argued.

They threatened that owners, teachers and staffs would take to the streets if the demand is not met within seven days. Representatives of various district associations were present.
