The Ganjam BJP unit gheraoed the Vigilance office here on Monday alleging rampant corruption in the Brahmapur Drainage Division and submitted a memorandum to the Vigilance SP addressed to the Home Secretary demanding action against the Executive Engineer.
The BJP members alleged that the officials of the Brahmapur Drainage Division are siphoning crores of rupees in the name of restoring the drains and for which the situation of the town is alarming.
BJP district president Kanhu Charan Pati alleged that crores of rupees have been looted for the restoration of the Bahana Nala and Sapua Nala, which comes under the Brahmapur Drainage Division.
The party in a letter toVigilance SP Mayadhar Swain demanded a probe and action against the culprits. Among others, BJP State general secretary Bibhuti Jena, Manoj Patnaik, Sisir Padhy, Rajesh Sahu, Pravat Sdangi, Sunil Sahu, Prabir Patro, Sarat Sahu, S Rani, Sarita Panda and Rinku Samal were present.
