‘Ramayana first recorded history of Bharat’

PNS

The Academy of Yoga and Oriental Studies (AYOS) organised a lecture entitled “Rama, Ramayana and Ramajanmabhumi” here on Sunday. The meeting was chaired by AYOS president Sudarsan Nayak and AYOS director Dr Indulata Das was the speaker of the occasion.

Dr Das said “Ramayana is not a fiction but is the first recorded history of Bharat. Ramayana is the life story of Rama, the noblest of the noble human being ever born on the surface of the earth. Ramayana is crowned with the epithet ‘Adikavya’ and sage Valmiki is famous by the name ‘Adikavi’. Ramayana is full of noble characters Sita, Bharata, Laskmana, Jatayu, Sravanakumar. Rama’s goodness has surpassed the limits of all human imaginations. Ayodhya, the birth place of Rama, was the capital of Kosala kingdom and was at the top of prosperity under the reign of the monarchs of the solar dynasty. A regular study of Ramayana contributes to the moral uplift of a man to the highest stature.”

There was a question-answer session after the lecture in which many scholars participated. Sudarsan Nayak, in his presidential address, described the state of Ayodhya in the modern time and enumerated the developments which led to the happy ending of a great dispute. Ayodhya would resume its past glory and prosperity in no time, he added.
