‘Poor students need phone, radio for online classes'

PNS

Samajwadi Party State president Rabi Behera has urged the State Government to provide mobile phones and radios to students of economically vulnerable sections to avail the benefit of online classes and radio classes.

In a letter to CM Naveen Patnaik, Behera said online classes imparted in schools and colleges of the State are not of any use for the poor students who cannot afford to have an android set. Besides, in rural areas, internet connectivity is a problem.

" Hence, we sometimes see in media the children are learning lessons from the top of the trees, water tanks or on the top of the hills. Keeping this in view, provide smart phones to the students of BPL families as you did it to the farmers in the past," Behera urged.

He further said, " The School and Mass Education Department is going to introduce ‘Radio Pathasala’ teaching through radio from September 28. All radio stations have been directed to relay the programme for class-I to class-VIII students from 10 am to 10.15 am morning. Keeping this in view, provide a radio to the students of BPL families for continuing this study programme."
