‘Pollution-free environ must for next generation’

PNS

The developmental process which is underway with application of advanced science and technology in the aftermath of the industrial revolution has kept degrading the nature and environment through different kinds of pollution. As a consequence, people are suffering from various kinds of diseases and dying at times.

As per reports of the United Nations and the World Health Organisation (WHO), 92 per cent of people are inhaling polluted air. As many as seven million people, including 1.5 million of India, are dying every year. Pollution created by rapid urbanisation and industrialisation is increasing the pollution-related death number each year.

If the rate of pollution remains in the upward trend, the whole living world will be insecure. Thus, all sections of the society, Government, private organisations, communities and individuals should make environment protection move as a people’s movement.

Environment experts viewed this while participating in a seminar on the UN theme “Prevent air pollution” on the occasion of the World Environment Day organised by the Orissa Environmental Society (OES) here recently.
