Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a decision to provide free rice and wheat to 80 crore people in the country.
Under the Pradhan Mantra Garib Kalyan Yojana, 3.25 crore people of Odisha would benefit getting 5-kg rice per head. The Central Government would bear all the expenses for it, said the BJP here on Friday.
Due to the Modi Government’s “historic decision”, the State Governments would be freed from the financial burden. This would also expedite the ‘One Nation One Ration’ scheme which is for the benefit of all countrymen. In the States like Odisha which are plagued by migration of labour would now benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, said BJP State president Samir Mohanty.
The announcement by the Centre that it would bear all expenses would prevent black-marketing and ghost beneficiaries. Besides, the Odisha Government’s lie that it is providing the free rice would be exposed, said Mohanty.
