‘No development happens by laying stones only’

No development happens anywhere by laying foundation-stones only and by publishing advertisements in media. Proper planning and implementation is needed for this,” said PCC president Niranjan Patnaik in a statement on Friday.

He criticised the advertisements being widely published before inauguration of the Jharsuguda Airport and foundation-laying for the Talcher fertiliser project by the Prime Minister claiming that developments of India would start from the eastern region.

He said that in last four years of Modi’s rule, no development has been made; only, the BJP and its leaders have prospered. The BJP’s income has risen many fold.

Many villages in the country have no roads, no healthcare facilities, no education; and Odisha is lagging far behind in all these. But the Modi Government has spent around Rs 4,344 crore for publicity in four years, Patnaik said.

He said that in 1999, the then NDA Government ordered closure of the Talcher Fertiliser Plant.

After the UPA came to power in 2004, it took steps to revive the plant in 2009 and its Government’ decision was announced in 2012. But after Modi came to power, that proposal was withheld.

Now before general elections, Modi, his Cabinet Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the BJP are trying their best to take credit by laying foundation for the plant.

Odisha people are aware of the facts and would teach them lesson in proper time, added Patnaik.
