To protect the rivers from pollution and other threats in the State, a new organisation named ‘Odisha Nadi Suraksha Samiti’ was floatedin Bhubaneswar on the occasion of Rath Yatra on Monday. The objective of the organisation is to link people emotionally with the rivers, to revive the livelihoods of people living in river basins and to fight against the industrial pollution which damages riverwater, etc. While farmer leader Maheswar Sahu was nominated as president of the organisation, researcher Anil Dhir, environmentalist Biswajit Mohanty, cine actor Ashrumochan Mohanty and social activist Sajjan Sharma were included as advisers.
