The National Council of All India Krantikari Kissan Sabha (AIKKS) in a meeting here on Saturday expressed concerns over the report of National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) on the decrease in purchasing power of majority of rural people.
According to the report, in the rural areas in 2011-2012 the expenditure for food articles was Rs 648 per month where as in 2017-18 it decreased to Rs 580. This indicates how the rural poverty is going to increase. This development is nothing but a clear reflection of agriculture crisis, claimed AIKKS State Committee secretary Shankar Sahu.
National council of AIKKS is of the opinion that when rural people are taking less amount of food articles per day, it clearly indicates that the high sounding campaign of Modi Government ’s “ Achhe Din” and promise of five trillion economy is nothing but a sheer hollow.
AIKKS national general secretary Pradip Singh Thakur said the national council of AIKKS is extending its whole hearted support to the students of JNU for their heroic and exemplary struggle. It is a matter of great satisfaction that due to united opposition of various parties and class-mass organizations, particularly role of All India Kissan Sangharasha Co -Ordination committee (AIKCC), the Modi Government is forced to retreat at the last movements from regional comprehensive economic partnership, he added.
AIKKS further claimed that, Modi government had to withdraw all the amendments to Indian Forest Act 1927 which is also a victory of the struggling people of India.
The national committee of AIKKS also demanded before both Central and State Governments to provide land to the landless, employment to the unemployed, remunerative prices for agricultural products and waivers of loans, comprehensive all India law for agricultural workers, ownership rights to all sharecroppers and social security to Dalits, tribals, women and Muslims, besides appropriate measures to control spiraling cost of prices of essential commodities.
