In a review meeting held on Friday under the chairmanship of Health Minister and Jharsuguda MLA Naba Kisore Das, detailed discussions were held on irrigation system and construction of a heart hospital, a cancer hospital and a diagnostic centre in Jharsuguda district.
Das discussed with the departmental officials as to how irrigation potential can be increased in the district and mega and minor defunct irrigation system can be renovated. He also discussed setting up of new lift irrigation points where they are required.
The Minister said that there has been substantial progress in irrigation development as on date. At present, the irrigation in the district has gone upto 22 percent as against 9 percent during 2009, he said. Besides, Das reviewed the progress of the new cancer hospital, heart hospital and Vedanta diagnostic centre and directed to complete the construction works of the projects soon.
Speaking to media, Das informed further that major irrigation projects, one near Ib river and the other in Lakhanpur block are under development.
