PNS

The Red Cross State Branch Protection Committee on Tuesday demanded that the executive committee meeting and annual convention of the State Red Cross Society be held on a regular basis and all of its financial statements from the years 2008-09 to 2017-18 be audited by the State Government Internal Auditor OAG soon.

The annual convention of the State Red Cross Society has not been held for 10 year and its executive committee meeting for nine years while they would be held once and thrice a year, respectively, as per the constitution of the State Red Cross Society, rued Samiti convenor Dillip Dashsharma at a Press conference here.

He too demanded that the order issued on September 26, 2017 to remove the name ‘Red Cross’ and its logo from the Odisha Red Cross Blood Bank be cancelled soon.  “We oppose the move to rename Odisha Red Cross Blood Bank as ‘Odisha Rakta Bhandar’ (Odisha Blood Bank),” said Dashsharma.

He too opposed the moves to stop monthly meetings of its lifetime members and blood grouping tests, which was being held at low process since long.

Besides, he slammed the State Government for appointing an Ophthalmologist (eye doctor) as Director of the Odisha Red Cross Blood Bank when it has no licence for the last 12 years.

While there are regular posts of secretary and joint secrtary in the Red Cross State office, it is lamenting that a person associated with the Youth Red Cross has been given charges of  the two posts, lamented Dashsharma.
