The BJP on Sunday alleged that the State Government has knowingly formulated some bidding norms in order to allot power distribution work in favour of a particular company.

“Bidding norms have been formulated in compatible to a particular company.

Noted power distribution companies of the country can’t participate in the tender process.  While two companies have applied for taking up power distribution work, the State Government is going to issue work order in favour of the small firm,” alleged BJP State secretary Dr Lekhashree Samantsinghar at a Press meet here on the sidelines of the Make in Odisha Conclave inaugurated here on the day.

Samantsinghar further alleged that Energy Secretary Hemant Sharma is responsible for dearth in the power infrastructure sector

.“While in charge of seven important posts, people of the State are getting power for 19 hours a day. Odisha’s T and D loss 41 per cent is more than national average.

He has now hatched a conspiracy to sell out the Cesu to an unimportant and inexperienced firm, which would pay a scam of Rs 1,000 crore pc in return,” alleged Samantsinghar.

She lambasted the State Government saying that poor consumers are paying electricity tariff of Rs 2.67 per unit till consumption of 30 units in Odisha as compared to Rs 1.45 in Andhra Pradesh. Above 30 units, Odisha consumers are giving Rs 3.78 per unit, she said.

“The State Government is charging more electricity tariff  compared to other States, and unreported power cuts have added to the woes of the people.

The State Government is cheating people in the name of cheap power,” she alleged.

Samantsinghar said the State Government has failed to utilise Rs 8,077 crore provided by the union Government. “While Rs 4,000 crore has remained unspent, the State Government is going to loss 509 crore under the Soubhagya Yojana,” she said.

She further alleged that the State Government has utilsed 17 per cent of Rs 1,083 crore provided by the Centre  under the Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS).
