The Asprusya Dalita Sanrakshyna Suraksha Samiti has requested the voters not to cast votes in favour of candidates of Keuta, Kaibartya and Dhibara sub-castes as they are wrongfully enjoying Schedule Caste (SC) reservation.
The Samit urged that that in case all candidates belong to the above sub-castes, voters should either boycott polls or cast votes in NOTA (None of the above) button.
Addressing a Press meet here on Sunday, Samiti working president Alekh Chandra Mallick said that the Samiti had on February 17, 2019 urged chiefs of all political parties not to field candidates of Keuta, Kaibartya and Dhibara sub-castes but many such candidates have been given tickets.
Mallick alleged that reservation was created for development of the neglected Dalits, who have been humiliated in the society. However, due to lack of awareness the Keuta, Kaibartya and Dhibara people with help of false documents have managed to grab the lion’s share of the reservation.
He also said that the Union and State Governments in their affidavits have admitted their faults and expressed their willingness to omit them from SC category list. Even, the High Court has taken this allegation into consideration and is likely to take the final decision on May 13, 2019.
