Simple education would not take anywhere; it is the development of the inner strength which would drive to achieve success, said Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal at the 11th foundation day of the Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar held at its Argul campus here on Tuesday.
Lal appreciated the IIT Director for his outstanding leadership and vision in shaping the future of the institute and expressed his gratitude for his immense contribution in the development of the society by imparting disciplined teaching and research output.
He also emphasised on the spiritual and inner development of the self to make best use of science and technology and called upon the students to be more focused and create their own aura to be emulated as role models.
Former Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Chairman Dr S Christopher gave an account of the Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) design and its operation in defence system.
He urged the students to be strong and smart from within like the operating system of a defence missile which knows its target and its magnitude of destruction. Every students must contribute significantly for nation’s development either actively being part of the defence management or as a civilian, he added.
IIT Director Prof RV Raja Kumar said that the success of the students is the key for the growth of an institution and the IIT, Bhubaneswar students have made us proud by reaching at global heights.
An ‘Open House’ was inaugurated to enhance the capability of the school kids to aspire big in the field of science and technology. About 5, 000 school students from Class-VI to XII and junior engineering students from across the State participated in the event in which more than 207 exhibits were displayed.
On the occasion, nine faculty and students of the institute were felicitated for their outstanding contribution in various fields and a cultural performance was held by the students.
