‘Deploy military forces at religious places'

PNS

The Bharatiya Bikash Parishad has requested the Union Government to deploy military or paramilitary forces at all mosques, churches, temples and other religious institutions during the lockdown for effective control of deadly coronavirus across the country.

Parishad president Surendra Panigrahi has written to Prime Minister Narendra Midi in this regard.

The letter mentioned that spread of the deadly virus has been proportionately controlled in the country compared to the rest of the world because of the Janata Curfew and the subsequent 21-day lockdown.

The Parishad wholeheartedly supported the further extension of lockdown period till May 3.

The letter, however, alleged that some of the Chief Ministers are playing vote bank politics in the name of religion. The

Tablighi Jamaat congregation held in Delhi caused of manifold rise in COVID positive cases in the country.

The Parishad expressed its concern saying that some miscreants taking advantage of the countrywide lockdown grossly  violated the provisions of Disaster Management Act and Epidemic Act by spreading Covid-19 deadly virus in the country deliberately with the tacit support of the State administrations since the enforcement of law and order are vested with the State Government.

"The basic duty of a democratic Government is to save the precious lives of its citizens irrespective of caste and religion," it argued.
