Leaders across political spectrum, people from various walks of life, Ministers, local MP, MLAs, former MPs converged here to condole death of MLA Bishnu Das.
The local civic body organised the meeting chaired by MLA Prasanta Muduli while late Das’s close aide and former Minister and legislator Devi Mishra inaugurated the event.
Speakers addressing the meeting discussed Das's illustrious career and his activities. They said the State lost a brilliant Dalit leader.
Leaders cutting across party affiliations recounted unforgettable memories with late Das in past three decades. He had made commendable efforts for development of Jagatsinghpur. By his sincere endeavour, Jagatsinghpur was accorded district status in the year 1993, the speakers added.
Ministers Pratap Jena, Raghunanda Das, MP Dr Rajashree Mallick, former MPs Kulamani Samal, Bibhuprasad Tarai, State Women Commission chairperson Minati Behera, district BJP president Satyabrata Mohapatra, district Congress head Natabar Barik, among others were present.
