The National Renewal Day was observed here on Tuesday by Green Man Sushir Rout. He is chairman of Aryabhatt Foundation and belongs to Madhabandha village in Chikiti area.
Celebrating the day, Rout said that in view of the global warming and extreme climate irregularities, Planet Earth is under severe ecological stress and revamping the lifestyle for a sustainable future is highly-needed.
According to information, 60-year-old Rout has spent his life long savings in planting trees and in protecting environment. He planted over three lakh saplings by roadside and on 10 barren hills in Ganjam over the last one and a half decades and conducted several padayatras barefooted, motivating the public to plant trees and keep the air, water and soil clean.
