‘Both Modi, Patnaik hoodwinking students, youths’

PNS

While launching a programme of “Naukri Do Ya Degree Wapas Lo” (Give job or take back the degree certificate), National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) secretary Rosanlal Bittu told media at the Congress Bhawan here that both PM Narendra Modi Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik are hoodwinking the students and youths.

“We shall launch a movement at the grassroots level and take to the street with the unemployed youths,” he said.

Bittu said Modi had assured two core jobs every year. When he failed in this regard and was asked about it, he replied street food venders (selling Pokadas) should also be considered in employment statistics.

He said it is irony that youths have degrees, but the Government is indifferent towards their problems. “I request the youths of the State to come forward and join the movement of NSUI, Bittu exhorted.

He criticised the Modi Government for allegedly favouring Jay Shah, son of Union Home Minister Amit Saha, to become the president of Assian Cricket Council whereas he has no certificate in this connection.

Odisha NSUI president Yashir Nawaz said the future of youths of the State is mortgaged in the spinning mills of Surat and kilns of Andhra Pradesh. Naveen Patnaik had assured two lakh jobs every year. Irony is that 42 lakh unemployed youths are now shouting for jobs in the 21 years of the Patnaik Government, which has not been able to provide one lakh jobs within this long period. The job fairs arranged by the BJD Government were a fiasco.

Nawaz also said, “Before the corona period in 2018, the country’s unemployment rate rose to 6.1%, which was the highest level in the last 45 years. India’s jobless rate rose to 7.51% in 2019. So, both Modi and Patnaik are against the interest of the students and youths. The NSUI Odisha would hold agitational programmes across the State against  the indifference of both State and Union Governments demanding employment to the youths.”
