‘BJD Govt paints rosy industrialisation picture’

PNS

The Congress on Friday alleged that the State Government is only showing rosy pictures of capital investments and industrialisation, but no progress has been made in the State’s development during the last 20 years.

Jatni MLA and party State spokesperson Suresh Kumar Routray told reporters that up to May 2021, at least 43 lakh youths are recorded as unemployed. If the Government claims to have developed the State industrially, why this scene of unemployment is witnessed? The rate of unemployment is growing every year. In 2020-21, it was 39.6% while in 2019-20 it had been 33.4% and in 2018-19 it was 19.4%.In 1995 (during the Congress rule), Odisha was the third-largest State in the country in term of investments proposals. In 2021, 20 long years after the BJD regime, nothing has changed significantly with the State still being in the third position. “Why couldn’t we become No. 1 State,” he asked.

“During the ‘Make in Odisha’ conclaves, huge investment proposals came. Altogether in three conclaves, the proposals were worth Rs 8.19 lakh crore and the State Government had assured that there would be nine lakh direct employments and lakhs of indirect employments. Where have the employments gone,” questioned another spokesperson, Rajanikant Mohanty.
