The Paschim Odisha Adivasi Kalyan Mahasangha held a rally and demonstration at Khariar on Monday to demand immediate arrest of people, against whom FIR has been lodged by Khariar block chair person Balkrishna Sabar.
"We demand immediate arrest of the culprits under Prevention of Atrocity Act. Why the police are so lenient towards the culprits who insulted and humiliated our leaders publicly," asked the agitators.
The rally started from the weekly market and proceeded through the town upto the police station.
A meeting was held in front of the police station where the leaders spoke about the negligence and partiality of the police.
The agitators also sat in demonstration in front of the police station demanding assurance from the police.
The police discussed with the tribal leaders and assured that appropriate action will be taken. "The matter is under investigation and action will be taken accordingly," said the police.
