‘Anger harms mental, physical health’

PNS

Anger solves nothing and builds nothing, but it can destroy everything. Learning to control our anger and express it appropriately will help us build better relationships, Sister Savitri, faculty in IT at the Mount Abu headquarters of Brahma Kumaris, said here on Monday.

Anger is detrimental to one’s mental and physical health and affects performance and productivity at the workplace, she said while addressing a seminar on ‘Anger Management’ at the School of Hotel Management (SHM), SOA University.

Keeping one’s anger under control would help achieve goals and lead a healthier and more satisfying life, she said, adding, “if we allow anger to control us then it makes us feel as if we are at the mercy of a powerful, unpredictable force.”

Sister Savitri also shared a few tips to help cope up with anger including relaxation, changing the way of thinking and proper communication. Prof Sitikantha Mishra, Advisor cum Dean of SHM, spoke about how teenaged youngsters are using physical aggression to express their anger and the consequences of the same.
