ZIMAN app for security of the citizens has been launched in Madhya Pradesh and a few other States. According to the 2015 National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report, Madhya Pradesh recorded most rape cases in the country with 4,391 cases reported during 2015. The State was followed by Maharashtra (4,144), Rajasthan (3,644) and Uttar Pradesh (2,934), released on Tuesday. A total of 34,556 rape cases were registered across the country during the period covered by the survey.
The only silver lining for Madhya Pradesh is that for the first time in many years figure of rapes came down in MP compared to previous year. In last year’s report, the figure was much higher in MP with 5,076 rapes. Within Madhya Pradesh, Capital Bhopal topped the list among the four main urban centers in the State — others being Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur — with 133 rape cases. With 115 cases Gwalior was a close second, followed by Jabalpur with 83 cases and Indore, at the lowest, with 76 cases.
