This is called checks and balances. Handing over the responsibility of Gwalior Chambal division to the palace, the BJP on Saturday fielded Yashodhra Raje Scindia and Maya Singh to thwart the influence of the Congress in their constituencies.
Interestingly, MP Yashodhra Raje and Rajya Sabha member Maya Singh did not even demand tickets for themselves, but were demanding tickets for their sons.
Maya Singh would impact Gwalior east together with Gwalior South, Gwalior rural and Dabra, while Yashodhra would impact Shivpuri, Guna and Ashok Nagar. According to the BJP, the palace is a big factor in Gwalior Chambal. Previously, the BJP took the help Vijyaraje Scindia to gather support for Atal Bihari Vajpayee who was fighting against late Madhav Rao Scindia in 1984 parliamentary elections. The result remained in favour of Madhav Rao Scindia.
