The State Congress has held Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government of the State responsible for the ongoing ‘daal’ crisis in the State.
leader of the opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Satyadev Katare in a statement here on Friday alleged, “It is due to the wrong policies and shortsightedness of the BJP Government that ‘daal’ has disappeared from the meal of poor in the State.”
Katare further said that in the name of receiving Krishi Karman award continuously since last three years the State Government does not have any control over the policies and the false claims and wrong publicity that agriculture has become profit-making business in the State is nothing more than the ‘jugglery’ of words of Chief Minister.
He said that last year rabbi crop was affected with worms and insects and the chemicals provided by the agriculture department of the State to control that were substandard resulting in reduction of production but the State Government did not learn any lesson from that and did not make any changes in its farsighted policy. This resulted in yellow disease in the crop of Soybean, Udad, Moong and other pulses. Farmers sprayed chemicals by taking loans but the chemicals did not have any effect on the ailing crop resulting in decrease of production, he added.
He said that till March 2015 Tuar and other daals were sold at `100 a kg in the State but due to administrative negligence and to provide benefits to the whole sellers associated with the BJP timely action was not taken and the result is that the prices of the daal increased by 200 to 250 per cent.
He said that the farmers sold their produce at the support price that was 200 per cent less than the current market and the big whole sellers and stockers are getting advantage of the increased rates.
