The World Cup fever overshadowed the craze for Raahgiri Day among the Bhopalites. On the other hand, the final examinations of schools being on the doorstep also marked a decline in the enthusiasm of Raahgiri Day. Notably, the crowd at Raahgiri Day noticed at Boat Club and Shahpura lake on Sunday did not evoke a good response as most of the citizens were busy watching the ICC World Cup’s India v/s South Africa cricket match. And the children are busy preparing for the exams.
On the last Sunday, not much crowd was noticed at Raahgiri Day as well. This Sunday, only 10 per cent of the enthusiasts could be noticed taking the pleasure of activities like cycling, yoga and much more. With the view to promote public transport and better traffic security measures and health among the Bhopalites, the Raahgiri Day is being organised every Sunday at Boat Club by Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Notably, the Rahgiri Day is being observed to not only to aware the Bhopalites about traffic security measures, but also to inform them about being healthy. So, various activities were organised with which people can also taste the fun along with the physical exercise.
The citizens are asked to cycle, walk, jog and skate. Further, for a mass awareness programme about health, yoga, aerobic, zumba and games like cricket, kho-kho and other body lifting activities are also organised. Moreover, Tug of War was also played this Sunday. A ‘No Vehicle Zone’ is also announced at Boat Club on this day. Moreover, a photography competition was also held. Notably, only the regular enthusiasts were noticed enjoying the Raahgiri Day at Boat Club and Shahpura lake.
