Won't share formula to cut input cost of agri produce: Scindia

Staff Reporter

Congress MP and former Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Wednesday said he possessed the formula to bring down input cost of agricultural produce but he would not share details with the Government.

Scindia was participating in the Kisan Mahapanchayat being organised in Sidhi District's Churhut. He said this, while talking to media persons.

launching a scathing attack at the Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled regimes at the Centre and in Madhya Pradesh and holding them directly responsible for spate of suicides by farmers, he said, “Peasants have the first right to the treasury of the Centre and the State Government. However, neither Prime Minister Narendra Modi nor Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan are concerned about farmers”.

“Farmers are unable to fetch appropriate price, as the present regime is ‘Suit boot walon ki sarkar’. The previous Manmohan Singh dispensation had waived farmers' loans to the tune of Rs 72,000 crore.

On the other hand, the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister are keen on preserving the treasury," said Scindia.

At the panchayat, AICC general secretary and in-charge of Madhya Pradesh Mohan Prakash said that both the government at Centre and Madhya Pradesh are anti-farmers. Soon after Narendra Modi Government came to power, the first decision taken was to acquire land of farmers, but with the strong opposition by the Congress, this bill could not be passed.

leader of the Opposition in the State assembly Ajay Singh said that people of the State have now pledged that the misdeeds of the State government would not be tolerated anymore and they would elect an appropriate government for the welfare of people of the State.

He informed that a similar rally would be held in Churhat on November 5, 2017, on the birth anniversary of his father late Arjun Singh.
