A 50-year-old woman was seriously injured after her maid allegedly attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon when she resisted her attempt of robbery at Krishna Nagar under Nishatpura police station area on Thursday.
Shivkumari Shrivastava sustained serious injuries in the incident, which took place at her residence when she was alone. The neighbours after hearing her cries for help rushed to her rescue. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where her condition is reportedly critical. The accused maid has been identified as Sandhya Borasi.
Police said Borasi allegedly threw chilli powder on Shrivastava’s eyes and caught hold of her behind and told her to open the almirah lockers at around 11 am. The victim managed to rescue herself and rushed to her room but was again attacked with a sharp-edge weapon from behind. On the confirmation of neighbours and victim the accused maid was nabbed by the police. The police have registered a case under Section 307 of the IPC and have started further investigation.Police said the maid would be questioned and try to find whether she has been operating with the help of other accomplices.
