Infuriated mob vandalised a mini bus that mowed down a 37-year old woman near Swami Vivekananda Regional Spine Centre under MP Nagar police station area on Friday.
According to the police, the woman Priyanka Mamtani was going home on her scooter when she was hit by the speeding mini bus. In the accident, the victim died on the spot. The victim was rushed to nearby hospital by the ambulance, but she was declared dead.
Police were informed and on the receipt of the information a police team reached the spot. After preliminary investigation the body was sent for the post-mortem. The deceased was identified as Priyanka Mamtani. The deceased was a resident of Subhash Nagar. She used to work with a private firm.
After the accident, the locals gathered on the spot and the annoyed people pelted stones on the vehicle. The bus bearing registration number MP-04-PA-3763 was was partially damaged in the incident. The deceased was riding scooter bearing registration number MP-04-SM-4879. The police have registered a case under Section 304 A of the IPC and have started further investigation.
During the investigation it was found that the scooter of the deceased was hit from behind and she was found with ear phones plugged in her ears which suggest that she was speaking over mobile phone or she was listening to music due to which she might not have heard the horns and went close to the bus.
The deceased sustained severe head injuries and reported profusely bleeding, which caused her death. Police have started investigation and have started search for the errant driver. The owner of the bus would be informed. The bus was moving with a high speed and the driver of the bus was not able to control.
