Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state secretary and chairman MP State Tourism Development Corporation Tapan Bhowmik said that with the passage of GST Bill the new taxation system would have double benefits.

Bhowmik in a statement here on Wednesday said, “Now the consumer have to pay dozen of taxes including Sales Tax, Service Tax, Excise Duty, VAT, Entry Tax and others while after implementation of GST only one tax would be levied. With the implementation of uniform tax system across the country the cost of goods in all states would be same and relatively lesser.”

Bhowmik further said that the consumer would get direct benefit by the GST besides the States would get relaxation in recovering taxes from many points that would also help in curbing the corruption.

He said that most of the states have supported the GST bill. last days the meeting called on by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was attended by representatives of 22 sates while 21 of them supported the GST bill. Basically, the GST bill is produce of Congress but still the grand old party has hampered it in the Rajya Sabha despite getting clearance from the lok Sabha, he added.

He said that the Finance Minister Jaitley is hopeful that with the cooperation of regional parties and the associates of the opposition the GST bill would get clearance from the Rajya Sabha in the Monsoon Session of the parliament. If Congress becomes hurdle in getting this bill cleared than the people of the country would come to know that the Congress does not have to do anything with the interest of the country and the people, he added.
