Why 'Badbola Sahabzade' silent on snooping row: Babbar

Staff Reporter

launching a scathing attack on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi over the alleged snooping of a young woman, Bollywood actor and Congress Spokesperson Raj Babbar on Monday demanded to know the reason behind the silence of “Badbola Sahabzade (big-mouthed Sir).”

“He has been referred as 'Sahab (Sir)' during a taped conversation of his 'subedar (lieutenant)' Amit Shah during a sting. He has earned the epithet 'Badbola' as he speaks too much," Babbar told reporters here.

Mentioning that he had read an advertisement that Modi was arriving here today, he said the BJP's prime ministerial candidate should explain the reason behind his silence following the sting.

Expressing concern over the security of young women in Gujarat, he said three agencies were pressed into service for spying on a girl. He said that it could be understood where he would take the country.

Taking a dig at various advertisements being brought by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh, Babbar said he viewed another advertisement that provided with a feeling of a state without the BJP.

Replying to query, he said the state's Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been aptly described as 'ghonshnaveer (one who is good at making announcements)'. He keeps on brandishing a sword of 'ghoshnas (announcements)'.

In response to a question about conferring 'Bharat Ratna' to former premier Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Congress MP described Vajpayee as a respectable person who is ailing and receiving treatment. He said that he agreed that he should be honoured and it would happen. He shared similar feelings for great hockey player late Dhyanchand.

Speaking about Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi's comments that Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) had attempted to contact victims of Muzaffarnagar riots, Babbar said that meant that the victims of any riot are deeply hurt and as such become vulnerable to used by terrorist organisations. He said that similar incident took place when Bombay riot victims in 1992 became involved in serial blasts a year later.

Babbar dubbed Modi as a "loud mouth" who is ignorant of facts and sought to know why he is conspicuously silent on the snooping row involving a young woman.

"He (Modi) does not know anything about facts and figures," the actor-turned-politician said addressing the media at the Madhya Pradesh Congress office here.

He, however, did not elaborate on it further. "Also, it is wrong to say that Congress was scared of Modi in any way," he asserted. Babbar also hit out at the BJP Government in Madhya Pradesh for being corrupt and making tall claims without having done anything for the people of the State.
