Conversion of Indian Railways into Green Railways and Electricity in order to quickly reap the economic benefits of traction, the railways had planned 100 percent Electrification of broad gauge routes by December 2023 and this will help eliminate diesel traction.

Already more than 1120 trains in Indian Railways changed to OHE reducing  carbon footprint by 31,88,929 tonnes per annum and saving fuel worth Rs 2,300 crore.

West Central Railway has Electric Loco 63 Locomotive Head on Generation Compliant Loco Technical and 21 head on generation compliant rakes which saved Rs 20 crores in past 2 years.

Indian Railways is using High Capacity Loco with 12000 Horse Power (WAG-12B) resulting in  increase in the average speed of goods trains from the use of electrical locomotives. West Central Railway  is using 776 electric locomotives.
