Vidisha civic poll turns prestigious for BJP

The Vidisha municipality elections that are scheduled for the last week of July, has become prestigious for the ruling BJP in the State.

Though election notification has not been issued but the seriousness and importance of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for this prestigious civic body could be gauged from the fact that Union External Affairs Minister and Vidisha MP Sushma Swaraj, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and Chief Minister Chouhan have already laid the foundation stone of a railway factory last month.

Besides, the Chief Minister in another programme announced several schemes worth several crores of rupees for comprehensive development of the city expressing his determination before the electorate for the development of city.

Notably, the Vidisha municipality elections could not held with the elections in other municipal corporations and municipal elections earlier due to High Court orders over irregularities in delimitation of wards.

It is expected that the elections for this VVIP municipality of the state would remain subject of talk not only in the state but also countrywide, the reason being that the high profile Vidisha parliamentary constituency that is currently being represented by Sushma Swaraj had earlier been represented five times by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and once by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

With BJP's initiatives all eyes are now set on this politically important town's municipality elections and hectic political activities have started, though both the major political players of the state the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress have not open their cards.

But as far as the goings in both the political parties suggest the BJP is going to concentrate on the strategy of promising development for the city besides putting forth the public welfare schemes run by the state government before the electorate while the Congress in all probability would go in the election with the failures of the BJP government of the state and its major issue would be development of city.
